LIPOSUCTION
Procedure
Liposuction
Most people are at least somewhat familiar with liposuction, a cosmetic surgery in which excess fat is removed from a trouble spot on the body, like the abdomen.
However, fewer people have heard about the newest innovation in fat removal: Lipo 360!
With a Miami Liposuction 360 procedure, you can have excess fat removed not only from your abdomen but also from your back. Thanks to 360 degrees of fat removal, you’ll have a slimmer profile than you ever thought was possible.
If you would like to know more about Miami Lipo 360 or are ready to schedule a consultation, then contact Prestige Plastic Surgery today. You’ll be able to meet with one of our board-certified cosmetic surgeons to discuss what a liposuction 360 procedure can do for you.
Lipo vs. Lipo 360: What’s the Difference?
Traditional liposuction generally focused on one problem area such as the waist, thighs or arms. This surgery was able to produce some pretty spectacular results, but most people tend to carry extra fat in more than just one area.
For example, someone who holds their excess weight around the waist area may be most concerned about the shape of their abdomen, but they also may have noticed that they have love handles as well.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could take care of the excess fat on your waist from all angles in a single procedure?
Now you can, thanks to a Miami Liposuction 360 procedure.
Think of Miami Lipo 360 as being like an all-inclusive package deal. With one surgery, you can completely reshape and sculpt your midsection, including both the lower and upper abdominals as well as the lower back, mid-back and both flanks.
How Does Lipo 360 Work?
Thanks to the cutting-edge technology that is used in each Miami Liposuction 360, surgeons are able to accentuate the patient’s natural curves. This results in outcomes that look completely natural but are dramatically different from the patient’s pre-operative profile.
Patients have their choice between general anesthesia and IV sedation. Your surgeon will talk with you about your preference in advance of the surgery to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
After the patient is sedated, it is time for the surgeon to make the appropriate incisions. These incisions typically are quite small, which helps to minimize scarring.
Next, excess fat is removed from all around the midsection using a tool known as a cannula. This is a narrow suctioning tube that gently removes excess fat deposits.
Some patients also may be good candidates for laser-assisted liposuction. Your surgeon will discuss this option with you during your consultation. A laser may be used during a Miami Lipo 360 procedure to tight skin and melt excess fat.
Downtime after undergoing this procedure tends to be fairly minimal. If you have opted for general anesthesia, please plan to be in our office for a few hours longer while the effects of the anesthesia wear off.
Most people are able to return to work in less than one week after the surgery. Pain and swelling are common after having such a procedure, and your doctor may prescribe medication to help manage these symptoms. Bruising also is common, but it typically subsides on its own after one to two weeks. Occasionally, swelling will last for weeks or even for a few months.
Patients are asked to wear a compression garment for approximately one month after the procedure. The compression garment minimizes swelling while maximizing results.
Within about two to four weeks, most patients are able to get back to exercising and other more strenuous activities.
Is Lipo 360 Permanent?
When people come in to Prestige Plastic Surgery for a Miami Liposuction 360 consultation, they almost always ask whether or not liposuction is permanent.
We can confidently report that liposuction is permanent. That’s because by the age of 13, most people have already developed their unique number of fat cells. Typically, these fat cells are not able to regenerate. This means that once fat cells are removed, they do not grow back.
Nonetheless, the remaining fat cells still have the ability to store fat. If you routinely eat a high-fat, high-calorie diet and forget to exercise, your fat cells can store more fat and grow larger. Over time, this can cause you to lose the benefit of your Miami Lipo 360 surgery.
That’s why our surgeons always recommend that patients follow a sensible, nutrient-dense diet and continue to exercise after having any cosmetic procedure performed.
Who’s a Good Candidate for Lipo 360?
Most people will find that they are excellent candidates for this revolutionary procedure. In general, people who are in good overall health and who are non-smokers make the best candidates. It also makes sense if the patient is at or close to their ideal body weight. This is because liposuction is not precisely a weight-loss procedure, but rather is designed to only remove subcutaneous fat.
Accordingly, as long as you meet these criteria and have excess fat around your waist, abdomen and back, you are probably an excellent candidate for Miami Liposuction 360.
If you also are bothered by weak abdominal muscles, loose skin or intra-abdominal fat, you may want to consider a tummy tuck instead of or in addition to a lipo 360 procedure. Ask your surgeon to learn more.
