BREAST LIFT

Procedure

Breast Lift

Do you remember the days when your breasts were high, firm and youthful? You can achieve that look again with a Miami breast lift performed at Prestige Plastic Surgery.

Numerous factors may cause breasts to sag. Pregnancy and breastfeeding certainly take their tolls, and so does simple gravity. Some women notice that their breasts begin to sag or droop after losing considerable weight. Occasionally, simple aging is the culprit.

Regardless of what may have caused your breasts to sag, contact Prestige Plastic Surgery for a Miami breast lift.

This widely used procedure can attain near-miraculous results, giving you the streamlined, perky profile that you have been longing for.

What Is a Breast Lift?

Formally known as mastopexy, the breast lift procedure is used to sculpt the breasts and elevate the position of the nipples. The surgeon tightens the skin on the breast, repositions breast tissue and provides more desirable contours.

The precise site and size of the incision will vary depending upon the exact procedure that is performed. For instance, when patients have breasts that are only slightly sagging, then it may be possible to make a smaller incision. In cases where the drooping of the breasts is severe, larger incisions that go around the areola, down the breast and across the natural crease may be required.

Patients may elect to have a Miami breast lift in conjunction with an additional procedure such as a breast reduction or a breast augmentation. Breast reduction may be recommended in cases where the patient would benefit from having smaller breasts as well as better contours. Women who have always wanted a fuller bust line can take advantage of having a breast lift to get implants as well. When two procedures are performed at once, it means that the patient only has to deal with a single recovery time rather than two.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Miami Breast Lift?

Each breast lift procedure that’s performed at Prestige Plastic Surgery is highly individualized. That’s because each woman’s body is unique. Accordingly, each patient’s results are unique as well.

Most women who are unhappy with the shape and appearance of their breasts are good candidates for a breast lift.

In general, this may be the right procedure for you if the following apply:

-You are not a smoker
-You are in good physical health
-You are maintaining a stable weight
-You have no plans to become pregnant or to breastfeed
-You feel that your breasts have lost volume and shape
-You’re bothered by breasts that are pendulous or flat
-Your nipples fall below the crease of the breast when your breasts are unsupported
-You are troubled by enlarged areolas and stretched skin
-You have areolas and nipples that point downward

If you look in the mirror and wish that your breasts could be lifted and your areolas be made smaller, then a breast lift is a good choice for you. Schedule a consultation with Prestige Plastic Surgery today.

The Breast Lift Procedure

Your breast lift is performed here in our state-of-the-art surgery center. Please allow at least two to three hours for the procedure.

Before the surgery, it’s important to comply with all instructions that your surgeon provides. These may include abstaining from aspirin or other medications before the surgery. Additionally, you may not be allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight on the evening prior to your procedure.

You’ll be warmly welcomed to our facility upon your arrival. Feel free to ask any questions before the procedure begins, as we want each of our patients to be comfortable and at ease.

Breast lift procedures usually are performed under general anesthesia. Please have another adult accompany you to the surgery so that you can relax and let someone else do the driving.

During the procedure, your surgeon will make the necessary incisions, usually around and underneath your nipples. This outlines the area from which tissue will be removed. The precise location and techniques used will vary between patients, so feel free to ask your surgeon about the techniques that will be used in your case.

As the surgeon works, tissue and excess skin will be removed while the nipple is moved higher. The incisions are closed with care to minimize scarring and maximize firmness. Your chest will be wrapped in an elastic bandage to protect your breasts.

Postoperative Care

Schedule a few days of quiet rest in the time following your surgery. Move with care, especially in the first 24 hours after the procedure, as you may feel dizzy or lightheaded as a result of the anesthesia.

You’ll probably be ready to be up and about in a day or two, but it’s wise to limit the amount and strenuousness of any activities. Most patients experience some pain and discomfort in the days following surgery, and your doctor may prescribe a medication to manage this.

Some bruising and swelling are natural after having a breast lift. These symptoms will subside in a few days. The doctor will remove the elastic bandage in a follow-up appointment, though you may have to wear a surgical or support bra for several weeks.

Patients sometimes can return to work within a week after the procedure, but it still is wise to refrain from lifting any heavy items and engaging in any vigorous exercise for at least a few weeks.
